The “SEIBU KPP TRAIN”, a special train that is decorated in all things Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and plays all of her hits while you are on board, began its departure from Ikebukuro Station along the Seibu Line on June 4th.
This year – 2016 – is the year of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu as she celebrates her 5-year anniversary. Having released her first-ever best-of album “KPP BEST” on May 25th, our pop princess continues to advance forward to her next stage. In conjunction with a celebration of 100 years since their establishment last year, Seibu have collaborated with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu in order to honour the first step into their next 100 years of operation
Kyary appeared at the beginning of the “SEIBU KPP TRAIN” opening ceremony wearing an original pink and blue conductors uniform and actually boarded the train. Fans waited in anticipation at the platform for the KPP train to arrive so that they could board too. The train finally arrived with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu already on board, and she announced excitedly “We went all out with design on the inside and outside of the train, and each carriage has a different theme for each song inside. It’s really cute!”
Gotou Takashi, the president of SEIBU RAILWAY Co., Ltd., tied a pink and blue “tape-knot” together with Kyary instead of the usual “tape cut” that would be carried out on such an occasion in order to secure and celebrate a new future together with the company and the pop princess, in what was a gorgeous ceremony demonstrating the strength between the two parties.
Subsequently, Kyary made a run of the platform and shook each passenger’s hand, before carrying out the procedural train conductor “pointing and calling” safety measures. The fans then boarded the “SEIBU KPP TRAIN”. The exterior base of the “KPP TRAIN” is pink and wrapped in the imagery seen in the music videos to Kyary’s biggest hits, including “PONPONPON”, “Tsukema Tsukeru”, “Fashion Monster” and “Mondai Girl”, making for a huge impact.
After Conductor Kyary had boarded the train, she was challenged with her first ever train conductor announcements such as guiding people up and down the line, and personally checking that every passenger on the train had their ticket by visiting each carriage. 328 fans had the train ride of a time aboard the “SEIBU KPP TRAIN”. It will be running until Thursday September 29th and will operate along the Seibu Ikebukuro line.
