Marukome to Release New Product KAWAII MISO SOUP Harajuku Flavor! Mito Netsume Makes Guest Appearance!

Marukome will release a new product KAWAII MISO SOUP Harajuku Flavour in collaboration with ASOBISYSTEM. It will be available in-store at convenient stores, starting in late February! The company invited a large number of media outlets to an announcement party on 7 Jan.

Natsume Mito appeared in a red shirt that resembled Marukome’s logo. “I heard Marukome will be releasing a new flavour so I’ve prepared a cute little song to celebrate it! This will be my first time singing the song in public! I hope you enjoy it” Natsume’s excited announcement was then followed by a performance of the new song Moshimo Cooking.

After the performance, Asahi Shimoda and Marukome-kun came on stage and joined in the fun for a talk show. Before wrapping up the event, Asahi looked back on her Marukome-Chan audition, and talked about why she decided to cut her long hair (Please see below for more on the talk session).

KAWAII MISO SOUP Harajuku Flavour

KAWAII MISO SOUP Harajuku Flavour was created in collaboration with ASOBISYSTEM. This is made with koji that has the sweet flavour of 24-level koji, without any synthetic ingredients. It’s seasoned with bonito, niboshi and seaweed stock for a richer flavour.

The new flavour will include two kamaboko (one featuring an illustration of Marukome-Chan and the other one in the shape of flower) selected by Natsume. It looks cute with fluffy eggs and heart-shaped namafu (a highly refined wheat protein that’s common in traditional Japanese cuisine). It also comes with a magnet featuring an image of arukome-Chan!

Kawaii Miso Soup Stand

Prior to the release of the product, Marukome will launch a time-limited stall at MOSHI MOSHI BOX on 8 Jan! The stand will offer a total of eight flavours just for ¥100, including two additional cups named Meiji-Jingu Flavour with mochi and namafu, and more standard MOSHI MOSHI BOX Flavour with seaweed, spring onions and nameko.
